Youth Justice
This panel will discuss ending youth incarceration through a Latinx lens. Latino youth are 65 percent more likely to be detained or held in youth facilities than their white peers, according to data from the Department of Justice. We will discuss the drivers of youth incarceration; why youth should be treated differently than adults; what Latinx youth need to thrive; and how we can build power to create and change national policies to end youth incarceration.

Panelists:
Marcia Rincon-Gallardo, National Alianza for Latinx Youth Justice
Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz, Massachusetts State Senate
Frankie Guzman, National Center for Youth Law
Whitney Threadcraft-Walker, HKS Government Performance Lab
Moderator: Nate Balis, The Annie E. Casey Foundation
